From first cuts to proud creations

It’s been exactly two months since we opened the shop, and I’m excited to share that our first two groups of Young Makers are now up and running!

In our weekly meetings, we’ve already completed several projects—and seeing photos of the creations proudly displayed in the kids’ homes absolutely made my day.

I work very intuitively, tuning in to the kids’ energy and trying to stay within their comfort zones without pushing them past their limits.
I’m always searching for engaging projects that strike the right balance: exciting to build, challenging but not overwhelming, and with useful, meaningful outcomes.
Along the way, I introduce basic skills like using color effectively, how to hold a hammer or handsaw, drawing a clean pencil line, and more.

I even tried to create a cut list with them, but that quickly turned into a math class, which didn’t go over so well....Clearly, that part was a bit too advanced for their current stage.
But luckily there is still so much fun and hands-on things we can do together! And when they'll grow up a bit and be more advance with the making process, we will delve into planning and sketching :)
It’s all incredibly exciting- getting to know the kids, developing my growing project bank, and constantly thinking of new ideas. My mind is buzzing 24/7!
As the year winds down, I’m already looking forward to the next one and hoping to welcome many more kids into the shop.
If you want your kids to join our creative journey next year- just give me a sign! You can either text me on WhatsApp, send an email, or simply pop into the shop- whatever works for you :)
Hugs,
Ela
